Swiflly Privacy Policy

What Swiflly does
Swiflly is a voice-typing app for Windows. When you press Ctrl+Win, it listens through your microphone. When you press Ctrl+Win again, it converts your speech to text and types it into the app you are using.
Your voice and your words
- Processed on your device only. Speech recognition runs locally on your PC. Your audio is never sent to us or to anyone else.
- Never saved. Audio is held in memory only while you are dictating and is discarded as soon as the text has been typed. It is never written to disk.
- Text is not stored. Swiflly does not keep a history of what you dictate. The text is placed on the Windows clipboard for a moment so it can be pasted, and your previous clipboard text is then restored.
Meeting notes (optional)
- Only when you start them. Meeting notes never start on their own. Each time, you confirm that you have told the other participants, and you are responsible for following the recording and consent laws that apply where you and they are.
- What is captured. Your microphone (written as "You") and the sound your PC plays, such as the other people in a call (written as "Others"), are turned into text on your PC.
- Text only, never audio. Audio is discarded as soon as each part is transcribed. The text is saved as a .txt file in your Documents\Swiflly Transcripts folder. You can open, move or delete these files at any time.
- Summaries are your choice. Swiflly can copy the notes for you to paste into an AI assistant you choose. Swiflly itself never uploads them; once you paste them into another service, that service's own privacy policy applies.
Microphone
Swiflly uses the microphone only between your two Ctrl+Win presses, and during meeting notes you start. Windows shows its microphone indicator while Swiflly is listening. You can turn microphone access off at any time in Windows Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
Keyboard
To detect its shortcuts in every app, Swiflly listens for key presses. It only reacts to its two shortcuts (by default Ctrl+Win and Win+Alt for meeting notes; you can change them), and Esc and Enter while it is listening. It does not record, store or send anything you type. Before listening, Swiflly asks Windows whether the selected item accepts text, so it can tell you to click in a text box first; it does not read the content of what you have selected.
Internet and data collection
- Swiflly works offline. English is built in and needs no internet connection.
- If you choose to dictate in another language, Swiflly downloads the speech model you pick from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). This is a plain file download: nothing about you, your voice or your text is sent. After that, the language also works offline.
- If you add your own model from a Hugging Face link, Swiflly downloads that file the same way. A model you add from your PC is simply copied into Swiflly's folder.
- There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- We do not collect, sell or share any personal information.
Data stored on your PC
Swiflly keeps a few files in your Windows user profile: your settings, your optional list of custom words, any speech models you downloaded or added (you can remove them in the Languages window), and a technical log of up to 1 MB (start-up and error messages, never audio and never the words you dictate). Uninstalling Swiflly removes them all. Meeting notes you chose to save stay in your Documents folder until you delete them.
Purchases
Swiflly is sold through the Microsoft Store. The free week and your yearly subscription are handled by Microsoft under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We do not receive your payment details.
Children
Swiflly does not collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
